(The One With) Three Casual Holiday Outfits

(The One With) Three Casual Holiday Outfits

If you’ve been following along with us, you know that we’re fairly casual gals.  Don’t get me wrong, we love to admire sequined dresses and 4″ heels as much as the next girl, but our lives are more swinging-through-the-Starbucks-line-between-carline-and-work than fancy nights out on the town.  On Christmas morning, you are likely to find me crawling around on the floor playing with toys, hoping that my four-year-old doesn’t mistake my mimosa for his orange juice.  How do you plan a cute holiday outfit for that?  Well, allow me!

Holiday Outfit #1:

This is the perfect look for a comfortable holiday at home.  The kind of day where you want to be comfortable, but you also want to be camera ready since this is, if you’re anything like me, one of just a few days a year when your entire family is together at the same time, in the same place.  I’m simply wearing leggings and a flannel shirt, but I’ve dressed it up with a fun (and insanely affordable) faux fur vest.  I chose a plaid in a traditional Christmas palette for a classic holiday vibe.   The best feature of this outfit is that leggings have a stretchy waist band so you won’t have to untuck your front tuck to hide the fact that you’ve just eaten to the point of discomfort.  You are welcome for that pro-tip.Faux Fur Vest Holiday Outfit

Holiday Outfit #2:

This look is everything we love about comfortable and cozy layers.  It is perfect for your family day at the tree farm, or for Christmas Eve dinner at the in-laws’ house.  Emily dresses up her super casual sweater and plaid combo with trendy over-the-knee boots and black denim, plus some oversized, yet somehow totally subtle, statement earrings. Layered with Plaid Holiday Outfit

Holiday Outfit #3:

Kristin is typically the most dressed-up of the three of us.  This outfit is so versatile.  It can take you from the office Christmas party, to a gift exchange with your gal pals, to church on Christmas Eve.  I love how Kristin is mixing patterns here.  It makes me think of well-coordinated wrapping paper under a beautiful tree!  For more pattern mixing advice, check out our recent blog post here!  Slightly dressed up holiday outfit
