We’ve had several followers ask for suggestions on how to style the cult favorite Spanx faux leather leggings. Maybe you grabbed them at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but now you’re left wondering what to do with them. One of the most common comments we get about these is that women don’t feel like they suit their personal style, they feel that they are too edgy. For me, and I’d describe my style as existing in some space between Anthro, J.Crew, and Madewell, with a little bit of Loft thrown in, the Spanx faux leather leggings are so wearable that they are actually a key piece in my wardrobe. I feel that no matter if you describe your style as preppy, classic, edgy, ultra feminine, or even ultra casual, you can absolutely wear these faux leather leggings and still look like “you.”

Super Casual Weekend Styling for Faux Leather Legging

Keeping it casual in three easy faux leather legging looks

This is actually my favorite way to style these. These leggings aren’t your average black leggings, but they aren’t leather pants either. The faux leather finish lends itself very nicely to giving your sweatshirt and sneaks a fun, interesting vibe. You look cute, but you didn’t even try. It’s an effortlessly cool look. These are outfit goals with our favorite Aerie sweatshirts, which are currently $30 and newly available in tons of colors and patterns. Get the camo and leopard before they sell out, and they will.

Fit Tip: These leggings are available in Petite and regular sizes, XS-3X. If you are in between sizes, or you don’t want them to be very tight, I recommend sizing up one. I am wearing a Medium Petite, and typically wear a dress size 4P.

Classic/ Preppy Style? No Problem.

Preppy AND mom friendly

Faux leather leggings work for even the preppiest style. I love to pair these with a classic matte black Hunter boot or a favorite chambray top and scarf. The quilted jacket from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is another classic choice that works effortlessly with these leggings!

Okay- but how do I go out in these? Work?

These looks work great for a casual night out or dressy date night. Mix up accessories to suit your style.

Depending on your office, obviously, you can make these work for your 9 to 5. They do not have the weight of a regular legging, so the Spanx faux leather leggings will never fail the “squat test.” As long as your office isn’t a legging free zone, you can wear these whenever it would appropriate to dress down just a bit.

For going out, they are a perfect choice no matter if your idea of the perfect night out is a fancy restaurant or the newest brewery in town (hi, that’s me!).

What else do I need to know about wearing faux leather leggings?

You do get what you pay for. I have tried other brands (including this Amazon pair with amazing reviews), and the Spanx are by far the best for anyone with trouble spots throughout their legs or tummy. For me, they conceal and smooth best. In addition, they are available in petite sizes, which is a must for me. The good news is that these $100 leggings can be found for $65 right now because they are part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Petite is sold out at Nordstrom, so we recommend you buy them here because they are being price matched. In fact, you can save an additional 10% if you are a first time customer and don’t mind signing up for emails.

My only other piece of advice is to avoid the leather on leather look, unless you’re dressing up as Sandra Dee for Halloween! (Although, not a bad idea…)

Tell me about it, stud.
