My leather jacket, which I purchased a year ago at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, has become a staple in my closet. I wear it super often- casually with jeans and a tee shirt, or more dressed up paired with a skirt or with a dress, wearing it draped over my shoulders. Styling a leather jacket is super easy, and it will compliment most everything in your closet.
Styling a Leather Jacket Casually
Styling a leather jacket casually is simple. Because the black leather is obviously very dark and moody, I like to pair it with younger, brighter feeling pieces. I chose my favorite distressed jeans and a simple striped tee and sneakers. These jeans are almost always on sale, and are the perfect balance between a mom jean (which doesn’t work for me) and a skinny (which has been my go to for YEARS.)
Date Night in your Leather Jacket
This look is effortless. When I picked this midi skirt up from an Amazon haul, I never expected it to become a staple in my wardrobe. I love it paired with a graphic tee and a fun hat for summer. You can elevate that look for fall by adding a leather jacket. I also threw on my favorite lace-trim cami to balance the edgy leather jacket with something ultra feminine. Try styling a leather jacket by draping it over your shoulders!
Styling a leather jacket for a Girl’s Night Out
Girls night out is a great opportunity to play around with style. My husband always says I look nice- but I don’t think he really puts much thought into what I’m wearing (Which is good- he’s just as in love with me when I’ve made zero effort at all). Save the really good outfits for the gals! I am obsessed with this ribbed midi skirt. I was coveting the Free People version after seeing it on a few of my favorite blogger’s feeds, but when I tried it on… AWFUL. This one is much more flattering for any woman who has some trouble areas, plus I like that the slit is shorter and in the back of the skirt. I tossed on a striped tee and some fun booties..
Styling a leather jacket doesn’t have to be complicated. Leather might super edgy, but it doesn’t have to be. It can fit into any wardrobe, just like our favorite faux leather Spanx leggings! Do you own a leather jacket? How do you like to style it?
